ACE3-SOKOTO CONDUCTS BABY SHOWER FOR 40 PREGNANT WOMEN IN THEIR THIRD TRIMESTER
Pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) at the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) facility in Angwar Rogo, Sokoto State, received a welcome surprise on May 27th, 2024. The HSCL ACE 3 Sokoto team visited the facility to coincide with the 2024 Children's Day celebration.
The visit served two key purposes: monitoring ANC attendance and educating expectant mothers about the importance of regular checkups throughout their pregnancies.
This initiative aligns with the ACE3-Sokoto project's commitment to eliminate Mother-to-Child Transmission (MTCT) of HIV and improve the uptake of PMTCT services in Sokoto State. To achieve this goal, ACE3-Sokoto has partnered with PPFN to strengthen Community PMTCT (cPMTCT) services.
This collaboration aims to increase the number of women attending ANC visits and utilizing PMTCT services. Pregnant women receive valuable health information covering the benefits of ANC, HIV testing, immunizations, and other essential interventions.
Beyond information sessions, the ACE3 team went a step further. On May 28th, they provided 40 pregnant women in their third trimester with "baby shower kits" (Mama packs) containing essential delivery supplies.
The facility's matron, Madam Hafsat Haliru, emphasized the importance of ANC attendance in her opening remarks. She stressed that regular checkups help prevent complications during pregnancy and reduce maternal and child mortality rates. Additionally, ANC visits contribute to the overall health of both mothers and their babies.
The healthcare workers and the pregnant women expressed their appreciation to Health Systems Consult Limited (HSCL) for their intervention. They acknowledged the program's focus on ensuring maternal and child safety, reducing mortality and morbidity rates among women and children, and ultimately accelerating HIV/AIDS control efforts within the state.
The Matron concluded the event by expressing her sincere gratitude to HSCL ACE 3 for their generous support.
“We are grateful for the enormous support received from your organization. We acknowledge the fact that what you are doing is a service to humanity and we want to say a big thank you” she said.
