TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE PROVISION OF MONITORING, EVALUATION, AND LEARNING SUPPORT TO HEALTH WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT (HWM) FOCUS STATES
The Health Workforce Management (HWM) activity is a 5-year Task Order under The United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It aims to establish a cost-effective, well-trained, and motivated health workforce, particularly in the targeted rural and remote area of the project’s focus states.
HSCL is currently providing technical assistance for the Provision of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) support to the HWM Activity in Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kebbi, and Sokoto States and the FCT.
As part of an effort to strengthen the pre-service health training, the HWM team held a one-day meeting with the key stakeholders including the heads of the supported pre-service training institutions in Sokoto state to review the progress made on their respective institutional strengthening plans.
In Ebonyi state, the project participated in a meeting organized by the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA) with Ward Development Committee (WDC) Chairmen from 171 wards in the state and Officers in Charge (OiCs) of the Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs). Key discussions were anchored by the EBSHIA Executive Secretary (Dr. Divine Igwe), which centred on the enrolment of beneficiaries into state health insurance scheme. HWM partnering with EBSHIA, leveraged the meeting to sensitize the WDC chairmen on their roles towards the motivation and retention of health workers in their various wards, communities/towns, and LGAs.
